Warmun also known is Turkey Creek is a small Aboriginal community 200 kilometres south of Kununurra. It is known for its rich history, culture and art.
Warmun
- March 2011, floodwater swept through the Warmun community, 130mm of rain fell in just 24 hours. It was the first time in history the banks of Turkey Creek had risen this high, destroying most houses and flooding the Warmun Art Centre. 90% of the artworks were lost
- Many highly successful artists have emerged from Warmun, artists such as; Rover Thomas,Queenie McKenzie, George Mung Mung, Patrick Mung Mung, Paddy Jaminji, Hector Jandany, Beerbee Mungnari and Jack Britten.
- Open between 7am & 7pm, the Warmun Roadhouse offers guests a relaxing place to stay for the night, with powered caravan site or motel accommodation. The Roadhouse also offers visitors fuel, a meal, a general store, postal facilities.
- The famous Warmun Art Centre combines traditional Ngarrangkarni and contemporary life inspiration to create beautiful pieces of art. The works are a celebration of the land and Gija culture.
