Title: Horizon Waterfalls

We take a trip to the Horizontal Falls via floatplane. Described be Sir David Attenborough as one of the greatest natural wonders on the planet, they accessed through Broome and Derby. From Broome, we fly over Willie Creek, Cape Leveque, and the Buccaneer Archipelago, where we land in Talbot Bay.

• Horizontal Falls are created by the tidal movements in the area, with the water moving through gaps in the McLarty Range. The twin gaps have two ridges running parallel approximately 300 metres apart. The first and most seaward gap is about 20 metres wide and the second, most spectacular, gap is about 10 metres wide.
• The Horizontal Falls tour includes a trip though Cyclone Creek, here you can see the pressure folding in the rock and remnants of extreme tidal erosion.
• The falls have a “tidal pinch effect”, where the water rises or falls on the other side faster than the water that can make it in or out of the gap, creating two different water levels.
• Overnight tours are available, where visitors arrive at 3pm and leave 7am the next morning. They also run a 24 hour tour, and a “four night five day” cruise.
• After the tour, we head back to headquarters for breakfast where there is one last surprise, a cage-swim with sharks. This is all possible when touring with Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures.
