Chrissy visits Kanaya Wildlife and learns how injured wildlife can get a second chance at life.

• Located in the Perth Hills Kanyana Wildlife is based in Lesmurdie, about a 30-minute drive east of central Perth, making it an accessible wildlife experience close to the city.
• Wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to caring for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native Australian wildlife.
• The centre admits more than 3,000 native animals each year for treatment and rehabilitation before release back into the wild.
• Beyond rehabilitation, Kanyana participates in breeding programs for threatened species, helping support wildlife conservation in Western Australia.
• Visitors can join guided tours to learn about native wildlife, conservation challenges, and the rehabilitation process.
• The centre offers both Discovery Tours during the day and Nocturnal Tours, allowing guests to see animals that are active after dark.
• Much of the centre’s wildlife care and rehabilitation work is carried out by dedicated volunteers who rescue, treat and prepare animals for release.
• Visitors may encounter native animals such as echidnas, burrowing bettongs (boodies), and red-tailed black cockatoos through special wildlife experiences and tours.
