- The original Onslow townsite was gazetted in 1885 to support the wool industry, but due to the silting of the Ashburton River, the town was relocated in 1925 to Beadon Bay, 18 kilometres away.
- In 2025, the Shire of Ashburton launched a year-long celebration marking 100 years since the relocation of Onslow to its current location.
- The Onslow 100 Year Festival was held on 26 April 2025 and featured live music, food, entertainment, competitions, youth zones, and fireworks. The Black Sorrows headlined the event.
- The Onslow Gala took place on 24 May 2025 in ANZAC Memorial Park, offering an evening of live music, community gathering, and historical reflection with the theme “100 years of Onslow.”
- The original site, now called Old Onslow, includes preserved stone buildings that once served as key public facilities like the police station, post office, hospital, and gaol.
- Onslow offers easy access to stunning natural attractions like the Mackerel Islands and Ningaloo Reef, making it a great base for snorkelling, fishing, and exploring marine life.
- With its rich history, beautiful coastal sunsets, and peaceful beaches, Onslow appeals to travellers looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience in Western Australia.
