Story: Mangowine Homestead
Episode: 9
Presenter: Nikki Parkinson

When 4WD touring through WA’s Golden Outback you’ll see many beautiful and isolated locations. Nikki stops at a historic homestead to explore the local history and ensure her car is in good working order.

  • Mangowine Homestead has long been a place of hospitality, a necessary stop for people travelling through the region.
  • The original cottage was built in 1876 for Charles and Jane Adams, as a home from which to manage their pastoral leases. A second adjacent home was built in 1889 as an inn.
  • Mangowine Homestead provided hospitality for prospectors and others on their way to and from the Eastern Goldfields. It also serviced members of the local community as a place of rest and refreshment on their journeys to other areas.
  • Mangowine Homestead has long been a place of hospitality and is still open 6 days a week.
  • When on a long road trip there’s always the chance that you might get a flat battery and if you head off the beaten track then there is a chance you won’t have mobile coverage to call for help. Hence, the CTEK’s CS FREE portable charger is recommended for outback adventures.
  • CTEK’s CS FREE will charge your battery with enough power within 15 minutes to enable you to start the vehicle without the need to connect to mains power. It does this intelligently without causing damage to the battery or risk of sparks.
  • The unit can also be used to charge smartphones, tablets as well as laptops via either the USB-A or USB-C ports. When you get home, you can use the unit as a maintenance charger.
  • The CS FREE will hold charge for up to 12 months before needing to be recharged. It can then be recharged using the included USB-C mains charger, the optional USB-C solar panel, or a 12-volt socket accessory.
