Air Date: 15th August 2021

Cassandra visits the National Anzac Centre in Albany, or Kinjarling, a place known for its history! The National Anzac Centre is a must-visit if you're ever in this beautiful part of WA.

  • The National Anzac Centre at Albany heritage park provides an immersive journey through the ANZAC legend, in which the city of Albany played a starring role.
  • The Anzac Centre is nestled amongst the heights of Mount Adelaide and surrounded by walking trails and stunning views over the King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour.
  • The views over the King George Sound and Princess Royal Harbour would have been the last views that 41,000 servicemen and women had before departing from the harbor to go to war.
  • History is brought to life at the museum with multi-sensory immersion from the soundscape of daily wartime life; photos, videos, letters, artifacts and even full-sized military weapons.
  • Visitors to the museum can explore the exhibitions using a character card. This provides visitors with an opportunity to relive the personal journey of one of the servicemen or women.
  • The museum was officially opened on the 1st of November in 2014, the centenary of the first convoy departure from King George Sound.
