Long weekends are a great opportunity to hit the road and visit our favourite regional destinations. Nikki gives her top tips to ensure a safe journey on your next trip.

• Regional roads on long weekends are inundated with metropolitan drivers escaping the city. Hence, it’s vital to drive with care.
• When you’re passing through a regional town, be sure to slow down and look out for pedestrians or stop entirely. Take a break and check out the local businesses whilst on your way through.
• Over the long weekend, there will be an increased police presence to ensure safety on our regional roads.
• Double demerits will apply to encourage drivers to follow road rules and drive safely.
