Quentin discovers Dalwallinu, the start of the Wildflower Way.
- Smack bang in the middle of wheat country it is this pretty little town, just 2.5hrs out of Perth which has a side hustle guiding thousands of wildflower lovers who flock here from August to October.
- Visit Dalwallinu Discovery Centre for all the tips and tricks to make the most of your trip through the area.
- Dalwallinu has a great variety of orchards, everlastings and more throughout the Shire, but they are well known for their wattles with 80 species in the Shire and the highest density in the world. It is celebrated with an annual wattle week festival held in September.
- If you have a few days to spend up this way, you can drive the Wildflower Way from Dalwallinu to Geraldton through sights such as Wubin & Buntine Rocks, Latham and Caron Dam before calling into the Wheatbelt town of Perenjori. There is so much to see and do along the Wildflower Way any time of year.
- On the way back, if you have time why not take the Midlands Route on your return and be sure to stop in on either route at Coalseam Conservation Park
- If you only have one day to spend in the area, then head out to Petrudor Rocks, this is a lovely reserve with a big granite rock and water holes, and it is accessible by any vehicle and a lovely location for a picnic.
- There are a great variety of orchards out there to see and be sure to keep your eyes on the ground as you walk to see the first orchards of the season.
