Elizabeth Quay: A Family Day Out

Title: Elizabeth Quay: A Family Day Out
Presenter: Christina Morrissy
Date: 9th December 2018

If you’re looking for a place to entertain the family, you won’t find better place than Elizabeth Quay.

  • Elizabeth Quay is easily accessible by either train, bus or ferry. Even if you don’t catch the ferry in, watching the boats arriving from the jetty can be a lot of fun, with the boats here coming in all shapes and sizes.
  • If you’re looking for something a bit more energetic, the park is a great place for kids of all ages. Parents can sit back and watch from the Brewhouse, which is housed inside the historic Florence Hummerston building, relocated from the Esplanade brick by brick.
  • If you or your kids are interested in art, Elizabeth Quay is full of creative instillations. There is a map that lists all of the street art in the area, with one of the best examples being an interactive mosaic of the Noongar six seasons and the constellations.
  • Elizabeth Quay’s carousel has come in all the way from Italy, having been commissioned by a local jeweller who was inspired by a similar ride in Spain. There is no age limit on this ride, and it is also wheelchair accessible.
  • Make sure to stop by the local gelato store – with 24 flavours, it is one of the most popular spots at Elizabeth Quay.
  • Elizabeth Quay is a great location for all ages to spend some time taking in the artwork, delicious food and beverages and/or if you like just sit back and watch the world go by and take in the scenery of the Swan River.
