Where The Coast Comes to Life

Episode: 8
Broadcast: 3rd May
Presenter: Lee Steele

Lee Steele visits Rockingham to show how lucky we are to live in such an amazing state.

City of Rockingham, Rockingham Kwinana and Chamber of Commerce and Rockingham Visitor Centre all working together to reinvent Rockingham and make it a place where the coast comes to life.

Rockingham offers a trifecta of features:
metro area’s only north facing beach(Rockingham Beach)…
adjacent to more than four hectares of well grassed parkland, with established shade trees…
adjacent to a burgeoning food and beverage precinct with abundant free parking.

Rockingham offers a unique tourism lifestyle – residents enjoy the type of recreational opportunities normally only available to people when they go away on holiday (aquatic activities, fishing, boating).

Quality and quantity of facilities in City of Rockingham – major shopping centres in  central Rockingham, Baldivis, and Warnbro;  big box retailers; major chain restaurants in Syren St in the City centre; Lark Hill sporting complex, private schools, active calendar of community events: NYE (20,000 people), Australia Day (5,000 people), outdoor cinemas.

City’s logo is symbolic of award winning beaches, blue skies, water sports, maritime history and world famous little penguins. The tranquil aqua-blue colour of the local waters is a signature image of Rockingham, best seen from above (from the seaplane coming into to Cockburn sound!).

The sparkling waters of Safety Bay offer a wide range of water activities including some of the best windsurfing and kite surfing in Western Australia. The ‘pond’ in Safety Bay is regarded as one of the best flat water spots in the Perth Metropolitan area. The flat water and reliable sea breeze attract many expert freestyle kite boarders and windsurfers.

Safety Bay is also a child-safe, sheltered beach especially appealing to families with young children (unique southerly aspect ensures protection from the strong sea breeze)
