A Wildly Thoughtful Christmas

Story: A Wildly Thoughtful Christmas
Episode: 3
Presenter: Nikki Parkinson
Air Date: 14 December 2025

Nikki discovers how Caversham Wildlife Park offers the perfect Christmas holiday outing and a meaningful last-minute gift through their heart-warming animal adoption program.

  • Caversham Wildlife Park is located inside Whiteman Park at 233 Drumpellier Drive, Whiteman, Western Australia.
  • Size of the collection — The park houses around 200 species and more than 2,000 individual animals, birds and reptiles, making it the largest privately-owned collection of native wildlife in Western Australia.
  • You can see a broad range of Australian fauna: native marsupials (like kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, possums), birds, reptiles, plus other animals.
  • Visitors can hand-feed kangaroos, have photos taken with koalas, meet wombats and other animals via “Meet the Wombat & Friends”, and enjoy penguin feeds, reptile houses, farm-animal encounters and more — all included in general admission.
  • The park runs a “Farm Show” (sheep-shearing, cow-milking, whip-cracking, billy-tea swinging etc.) and has a “Molly’s Farm” section where you can meet farm animals (goats, deer, buffalo, ostriches, etc.) in a barn/paddock-style setup.
  • Opening hours & admission — The park is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with last entry at 3:30pm.
  • The park is wheelchair- and pram-friendly, has disabled parking and toilets, free WiFi, kiosk and refreshment options, ATM / EFTPOS services, and a souvenir shop.
  • The park has been owned and operated by a West Australian family (initially by “David & Pat”) since 1988. The original site was small (approx. 2 ha), but after purchasing adjoining land and later relocating to Whiteman Park in 2003, the park greatly expanded.
