Pete makes his way home from his latest destination using the Department of transport’s new, convenient and easy way from the airport - the new railway lines.

  • WA’s transport infrastructure is getting a major upgrade, which includes new rail lines, stations and shared paths, modern marina facilities and safer roads, all working together to better connect our communities.
  • The recently completed METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link, now referred to as the Airport Line, provides a new rail service to the eastern suburbs of Perth - With three new stations at Redcliffe, Airport Central and High Wycombe.
  • The line operates between Claremont and High Wycombe, via Perth Station, with fares capped at $5 providing increased connectivity between Perth hills and the city, benefitting both locals and visitors.
  • The Airport Line adds 8.5 kilometres to Perth’s rail network and travels underneath the Swan River and Perth Airport, reaching approximately 27 metres below ground at its deepest point.
  • Airport Central Station currently hosts the largest operational escalator in the southern hemisphere.
