Trevor visits the historic and cultural centre for the Gascoyne region’s aboriginal history and heritage.
- Gwoonwardu Mia is a multifunctional centre focused on celebrating and recognising the Aboriginal culture of the five Aboriginal language groups of the Gascoyne Region of WA.
- Gwoonwardu Mia offers a nationally award winning permanent interactive exhibition, dynamic temporary exhibitions, a gallery/shop with local product, the Artist-in-Residence program, a training hospitality cafe with a bush tucker flavour, outdoor performance spaces and an Ethnobotanical garden.
- The multi-award winning permanent exhibition features the Listening seat - an audio-visual experience focusing on stories from Elders from each of the five language groups. The touch table - a multi-touch table hosting a wealth of images, video and animation, the Skydome - Aboriginal people are our first astrologers, and more.
- The Gwoonwardu Mia Training and Development Hub is a collaboration with Real Futures, Tourism WA, WAITOC, DIPRID and the GDC. Real Futures is an Indigenous-owned company that provides training, employment and support programs for First Nation Australians.
