  • There are many fantastic tours available at the Perth Mint displaying Western Australia’s rich past in gold mining.
  • Most tours start at the meeting place mosaic called ‘Pretty Country”, created by Whadjuk-Yuet-Balaadong artist Kevin Bynder celebrates the spiritual connection of the Aboriginal people local to where the Perth Mint now stands.
  • Pete takes a trip back in time to see what the Perth Mint’s melting house was like in full swing during operation between 1899 until 1990 with a live gold pour.
  • The Perth Mint is home to the Australian Kangaroo, which was awarded the title of ‘biggest gold coin ever minted’ by the Guinness World Records in 2012.
  • The Trial plate 42C made in 1957 is the purest pieces of gold in the world with 99.9999% purity.
  • The 93-kilogram King Henry is potentially the largest gold specimen in existence and is said to be worth around $3 million.
  • The Perth Mint is also home to the Karratha Queen, which is the known as one of the most beautiful silver specimens in the world discovered at Elizabeth Hill Mine.
  • The Perth Mint is Australia’s oldest operating mint and a premier destination where you can experience the magic, allure and wonder of gold.
