With heritage buildings, antique stores and village charm, Guildford will take you back to a bygone era.

  • Guildford is the only town in Perth on the National Trust Register. It’s also been added State Register of Heritage Places.
  • The town was established in 1829, during the founding of the Swan River colony.
  • Walking the streets of Guildford will give you a rare glimpse into early colonial settlement, with much of the original town plan intact.
  • There are plenty of roses in the Guildford, which is why it was known as the town of roses in the 1930s.
  • The town is home to the largest collection of antique and homewares shops in Perth, with some of the best found within the James Street precinct.
  • There are many historic pubs in the area like Rose and Crown, which is the oldest hotel in the whole of Western Australia.
  • The Colonial Gaol is one of the most famous buildings in Guildford. It opened in 1841 and housed the infamous Moodyne Joe.
