When World War I was declared, most Australian and New Zealand soldiers left from Albany however, 32,000 Western Australians left from Fremantle.

• Among them stood our forgotten ANZACs, Indigenous Australians who, until recently, didn’t receive any recognition for their contribution in the First World War.
• ‘They Served with Honour’ is a book presented by two passionate authors, Anna Wyatt and Mark Chambers, telling the story of thirteen Indigenous Australians who fought in World War I.
• Aboriginal soldiers have fought in every conflict that Australia has ever been involved in, decades before they were even recognized as citizens of their own country.
• Anna Wyatt and Mark Chambers have spent months tracing the stories of these Western Australian diggers. The book was launched alongside the ANZAC Centenary on Friday, 24 April.
