Located halfway between Perth and Kalgoorlie is the town of Merredin, a fantastic town well worth exploring.

The largest town in the Wheatbelt, Merredin is full of old buildings and history with some beautifully preserved facades. One such piece of history is the old water tower, built to service the old steam trains.
You can check out the perfectly preserved 1897 steam train on display at the railway museum – recognised as one of the best in Australia.
The Cummins Theatre has hosted stars such as Slim Dusty and AC/DC and has just recently turned 90. There are rumours that the original owner’s daughter remains very much in charge of the theatre and strange things can tend to happen when you don’t say good morning and good night to her when the Theatre is opened and closed each day
The theatre was originally built in Coolgardie in 1897 and known then as the Tivoli Theatre. James Cummins who was mayor of Kalgoorlie for a time, bought the theatre and had it moved to Merredin brick by brick.
Merredin is one of the stops on the FORM PUBLIC Art Silo Trail, with the artist Kyle Hughes-Odgers, stating that at 35 metres it was the tallest silo painted on the trail.
