One of the most vibrant destinations in WA, the port city of Fremantle is sometimes best seen through the eyes of a local and Chrissy explores Freo with Fremantle Tours.

• Michael, a fourth-generation local runs Fremantle Walking Tours. Having travelled the world working in tourism, he has brought his skills home resulting in unique walking and riding tours around Fremantle.
• Paddy Troy Mall features street art from some of the city’s most famous urban street artists. This little art space aims to bring life to a carpark with artworks portraying a lot of the history of Fremantle, ranging from local Aboriginal football stars, Fremantle emblems, and many of the city’s musical icons.
• Fremantle’s cappuccino strip is always buzzing, and the tour stops off at one of the city’s hottest cafés, Milkbelly. With all food and drinks made on site, the premises is a micro-bakery, café and gourmet milk bar all in one.
• The tour stops at the historical National Hotel. Having just undergone a massive renovation, the hotel features first class accommodation full of furniture hand crafted by local artisans, as well as the most unexpected rooftop bar.
• There are a couple of stores on High Street that showcase local Freo artisans. One of these stores is the Artisan Store, displaying the work of 150 local artists. Just across the road is Common Ground, home to the city’s fashion, designers and illustrators.
• Once a pharmacy warehouse, Bread in Common is known for its food and quirky interior, and was recently ranked in the top three restaurants of WA by Gourmet Traveller. From the bread to the jars, the food is made on the premises, and the menu changes multiple times a week.
