Title: Granite Skywalk
Broadcast: 8th April 2018
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Trevor jumps on board the Busy Blue Bus and takes us on an exciting adventure to the stunning mountain range of the Porongurups near Albany, that can regularly claim the title of one of the only places WA ever gets to see snowfall; today we experience the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock.
- Considered as one of the States greatest tourism engineering projects over one of the oldest rock-land formations in the world, making it a really special place.
- Castle rock is a 2.2 km walking trail and is considered to be a walk that someone with medium fitness levels can undertake, though you have to be careful as you go, as the pathways can be uneven but it’s well worth it.
- The 4.4 km return journey takes you though some of the state’s most stunning flora, the area is considered a biodiversity hotspot with some 700 different plant species, including late Winter and Spring when some of the most remarkable native orchids appear alongside our unique wild flowers of this region.
- Near the top you will have an incredible view, to the South Albany town-site and to the North – Stirling ranges National Park.
- A short little climb takes you to the summit of the Granite Skywalk, around the peak of Castle Rock.
- The Porongurups are only 3 ½ hours from Perth and Busy Blue Bus run tours every day day from Albany, except on Christmas.
