Chrissy continues her journey, reaching a place 947kms from Perth. Known as our golden outback’s last frontier, Wiluna is the final resting place of Australia’s last nomads.

• If you are a 4WD enthusiast, it’s most likely that you identify Wiluna as the start of the world’s toughest off road trek, The Canning Stock Route, a 2000km red dirt marathon from up to Hall’s Creek in our State’s Northwest.
• Wiluna was once the golden outback’s biggest gold mining town, boasting a population of 9,000 people.
• The town also boasts a Romeo and Juliet like story; the story of Warri and Yatungka, forbidden to marry by their families and culture, these two fled into the Western Desert and stayed there for almost half a century. They were also the last of Australia’s nomads.
• There’s also a European history in the town, featuring a heritage trail around town, detailing what life was like for the 9,000 people who flocked to the town in pursuit of their fortune in gold.
