- Shelley Taylor-Smith has been the winner of seven consecutive world titles and, to this day, they have never been repeated.
- Shelley began her swimming passion when her baby sister had asthma, she wanted to act as a role model to inspire her sister.
- Not only was Shelley the first Western Australian to swim the English Channel but from 1988 to 1995 she was unbeatable. At the height of her career in 1991, she won gold in open water championships right here in Perth.
- Shelley no uses her experiences to inspire the next generation of stars.. not only as a swimming coach with WAIS and Scotch College but also as a life coach and based on her own story she is well qualified on what it takes to be a champion.
