Carmen goes behind-the-scenes at Cirque du Soleil LUZIA, taking us on a surreal trip through Mexico.
- This year, the state welcomes another iconic name back to its shores for a very special occasion, highlighting its status as a premier destination for global entertainment.
- Cirque Du Soleil is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Australia with LUZIA. Since 1984, more than 378 million people, in 6 continents and 86 countries, have been inspired.
- LUZIA is a vibrant journey through an imaginary Mexico, blending breathtaking acrobatics with stunning visuals, from urban sets to deserts and oceans, showcasing Mexico’s rich heritage and modern allure.
- The use of the Big Top creates an intimate and magical atmosphere, allowing the audience to connect closely with the performers and be fully immersed in the experience.
- A strong aspect of LUZIA is water, which is used for key moments. There is a rain curtain that showers water down on the acrobats while their using ropes and hoops producing striking images, as well as a pool of water at the centre of the interior turntable.
- Ethan Westland, a proud Australian, is the man that makes the 10,000L pool water system work.
- Jacob Harding, the Aussie Head Electrician, is Perth born and raised. No doubt a special moment for him to be a part of Luzia and to bring such a production to his hometown.
- Nelson Smyles, another Aussie, talk about the significance of the 25th anniversary, the show’s theme, and the celebration of Mexican culture.
- Under the Big Top, Higham Park in Claremont Showground, LUZIA is able to create a memorable atmosphere. The Big Top transports you into the imaginary Mexico, where surrealism meets the wonders, playfulness and striking artistry of LUZIA.
