Chrissy heads to 30 Knots and learns how home-brewing can turn from hobby to business.

• In a short time, 30 Knots Distillery have garnered national and international awards, including a Bronze at the World Gin Awards for Southerly Gin and Best Packaging Award at the Dieline Awards for their label and bottle design, proudly featuring the Geraldton postcode.
• Opened in May 2023 by Murray (Muz) and Kelly, it is Geraldton’s first on-premises distillery. Inspired by Geraldton's untamed spirit, the distillery reflects this in every aspect, from its name to bottle design.
• Founder Muz's passion for rum led to the establishment of the distillery. Crafted from a molasses base, their rums are aged for a minimum of two years to meet Australian standards. Currently, they offer three cane spirits with more in the pipeline.
• Their range includes Zephyr, an unaged rum perfect for cocktail bases, and a Spiced Cane Spirit aged in ex-Shiraz French Oak Barrels. They also offer Desert Wind Coffee Liqueur and Limoncello infused with Geraldton Wax.
• Committed to sustainability, they incorporated materials from the Abrolhos Islands and old jetty timbers. Their small gin still is entirely repurposed, and the building's mural depicts elements representing Geraldton.
