Carmen goes shopping-crazy amongst the wide variety of small, independently owned stores amongst the charming backdrop of Fremantle.
- Common Ground Collective showcase WA small business, giving an avenue for locals to thrive. They stock over 65 small brands in store from as far north as Broome and as far south as Denmark.
- Everything in store is designed by WA Locals. Their ceramics are painted by Chimerical homewares, one of their ceramic artists. They also sell T-shirts with the shop dog, Spud, on it to promote greyhound adoption.
- Ginger Morris include an eclectic mix of new Australian designers and vintage clothing, and have recently expanded into skincare and body care.
- Opened in 2012, initially inspired by their grandmother and mother’s love for art auctions, op shops and even rifling through things on the side of the road, the shop is a place to showcase their collections and discoveries, from old tools to antique jewellery and vintage glassware.
- Mokoh is a business that was started on the kitchen table 15 years ago, before expanding to markets, including a shop that closed because of Covid. Now, they run out of someone’s house on the street.
- They pride themselves in being WA and Australia based, their home studio only 600m up the road. Taken by plants, flora and fauna, blue skies and clouds, they feature many of these in their destination prints as they work their way around the WA coast.
