Diana discovers the town of living history when she takes a look around Dardanup as it prepares to celebrate its century-old story.
- The historic South West won of Dardanup and its picturesque hinterland, the Ferguson Valley, turn 100 this year, with a community celebration occurring on 13 May with a street parade, entertainment and activities.
- The Dardanup Heritage Trail covers 12 historic locations across the townsite telling the fascinating stories of first inhabitants. Further signage extends to the nearby areas of Waterloo, Ferguson and Wellington Mills.
- Each sign displays a QR code linking to more details on the Dardanup Heritage Collective website. Landmarks included on the trail include the Old State School, Dardanup Post Office and Thomas Little Memorial Hall.
- Last year, the Dardanup Shire Council adopted a plan for creation of a Ferguson Valley Art Trail, which will eventually include 15 public art installations. The first sculpture was installed in February by renowned local artist Andrew Frazer and is an interactive piece providing a frame for photos and the beauty of the valley.
