Winter is full of discovery at the Jetty. People can discover things about the Jetty’s history and heritage above the water and then enter a sea of discovery beneath the Jetty through the windows of one of 6 underwater observatories in the world.
- Winter experience at the Jetty is like nothing else you’ve experienced –when in your life do you see under the ocean during a storm?
- Visitors can stay dry getting out to the end of the Jetty on the solar-powered train which has fully enclosed blinds. The train runs everyday (except Christmas) as long as it doesn’t get over 25knts.
- There are winter warmers at the end of the Jetty too – coffee, hot chocolate, muffins and soup!
- At the 1.7km mark of the Jetty sits an underwater observatory, 1 of only 6 in the world and the largest as well. This is where the sea of discovery beneath the Jetty comes to life for people inside.
- And for those visitors that would never dive in and swim in and around the Jetty, they can immerse themselves in a virtual reality through our VR goggles – you are transplanted into the water, frolicking with all the amazing sea life, all the while staying dry and warm!
- Visitors can choose from 3 main options – a walk of the Jetty, a return- train ride or a train and observatory tour. A walk will take about an hour return, a train ride approximately 30 minutes and an observatory tour takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Every option lets you get out to the longest wooden-piled Jetty in the southern hemisphere, 1.84kms out to sea for that perfect instagrammable picture at the very end!
