• Wadjemup is the Noongar name for Rottnest Island.
• Walter McGuire is a well-respected and award-winning tour operator from Go Cultural Tours. He demonstrates to visitors the importance of the water ceremony in bringing people together.
• Wadjemup, in short, means place across the water where the spirits are, but it’s part of a bigger Dreamtime story.
• The Quad is one of two prisons on the island that were built by Aboriginal prisoners. The prisoners included young boys 8 years of age.
• Located on the north side of the Quad is the mass burial ground, a significant cultural landmark.
