Jo Beth goes off the grid along our seemingly endless coastline to explore one of WA’s most iconic holiday spots – Wedge Island.
- Wedge Island is located 163 kms north of Perth, on the coast of Western Australia, north of Lancelin and south of Cervantes.
- The name ‘Wedge Island’ refers to the mainland settlement and also the 400-metre-long wedge-shaped island located just south of the settlement.
- Wedge Island was first settled in 1937 by Mr W.R. (Bob) Wedge.
- Wedge Island is packed with typical beachside attractions including swimming, 4x4, fishing and much more all along a picturesque landscape.
- Wedge island is home to hundreds of beach shacks made from recycled materials like driftwood, old bits of tin and corrugated iron.
- Wedge Island doesn’t have the luxuries of power, shops or running water but is full of plenty of friendly holiday seekers.
- The island is a great spot for day trips, weekend getaways with mates and anything involving 4x4 with plenty of off-road tracks available.
