Hitting the world map in 1892, Coolgardie was the birthplace of the gold rush that fuelled the largest mass migration of people in Australian history. Coolgardie is one of the country’s best-preserved mining towns.
Lion’s Lookout gives visitors panoramic views to the east of the town and is where the headstone of the original “Bailey’s Reward” goldmine is re-erected.
The lookout is the view that Arthur Bailey and William Ford had when they first arrived in the Coolgardie area and discovered gold in 1892.
Coolgardie has access to 4WD tracks with some amazing views of bushland, salt lakes, granite outcrops, and nature reserves.
