Episode: 10
Title: Denmark Food & Wine Trail
Broadcast: 1st April 2018
Presenter: Chrissy Morrissy

Explore the State’s best food and wine trails from Denmark around the Southern coastline of Western Australia.

  • Plan to spend at least half a day exploring some of the most exquisite food and wine offerings in Denmark.
  • A morning pick me up at Mrs Jones Café, serving the most delicious home-made offerings is a great place to start your day.
  • The Demark food & wine trail is only 24 km long, you can drive the entire distance in just under 20 minutes. What takes time is all the fabulous local producers along the way, including cellar doors and local shops.
  • Paw Print Chocolate started as a side line to the owners’ cellar door, though it became so popular they decided to open up a local shop in town. With a local twist to ingredients and a generous sample pot, there are many options to match your taste.
  • Denmark’s gentle Summer temperatures and high Winter rainfall produce some of the finest wines around, with their own distinctive cool climate characteristics.
  • What a location, the Lakehouse has been awarded 5-Red Stars by International renowned wine expert James Halliday. At the Lakehouse you can take time out to enjoy a long lunch over the lake and take some time to re-connect.
  • Ten minutes to the east of Denmark is the Boston Brewing Co. which is local to the core, from the hops used in the brews to the fresh produce, another great choice for a lazy afternoon.
  • Take along an esky with you and ensure you take home a treat or two with you to remember your trip on the Denmark food and wine trail.
