Busselton Jetty

Episode: 3
Title: Busselton Jetty
Broadcast: 18th February 2018
Presenter: Chrissy Morrissy

RAC Busselton Holiday Park is the perfect place to base yourself when exploring WAs Southwest. One of the best attractions in the region is the Busselton Jetty. Chrissy checks it out with her kids and gives us all the best tips.

  • Busselton Jetty is the longest Jetty in the southern hemisphere almost 2km in length. It was lovingly restored after being destroyed by cyclone Alby in 1978. A true testament to what a community can achieve to preserve its history.
  • Before beginning your journey on the jetty be sure to head to the interpretive center. It is a great resource for history as well as the place to book all tours.
  • The best way to get to the underwater observatory is to take the train. It runs entirely on solar power which is the first of its kind in Australia. You can also walk to the observatory and that only takes 20 minutes.
  • This is the best way to see what life is like under the ocean. From the bottom of the observatory you are 8 meters below sea level.
  • There are around 300 different species of fish viewable from the observatory. You can also spot dolphins, stingrays and octopuses from the observatory!
